What’s your name?

Amanda Albien.

You’re one of Borgars own students. What made you want to chair?

I like being in charge, and I thought it would be a good opportunity since it’s at school. All my friends are going too so I thought it would be great to hang out with my friends and to learn and get to know new people. Also, I get to be the dictator I’ve always wanted to be.

How has your experience as a chair been so far?

It’s been great, actually. It’s fun to have a co-chair that you can cooperate and do stuff with. And it’s fun to help the delegates cause there’s a lot of delegates who haven’t done this before, so I’ve been forced to helped them which has been really great actually. I love helping people.

What has your committee done so far?

We’ve passed one resolution, we’ve debated and we’ve been lobbying. We’ve also had a lot of punishments, and we’re currently debating our second resolution. Soon we’ll be done with that. It’s about drones, and the next one is going to be about small arms and light weapons.

Have you come to any conclusions?

Yeah, we passed the last one, but I don’t think we’re going to pass this one, although I’m not sure yet.

How did you discover MUN?

When I started PrIB I found out that you did MUN at school. I went to a session and I got really scared, so I didn’t come back. But then my teacher Andreas chose me to go to the MUN of Lübeck conference. There I found my love for MUN. I had so much fun, and I’m really grateful that Andreas believed in me. Ever since Lübeck I’ve been MUN all the way.

Is this something that you one way or another want to continue doing after high school?

Definitely. If not MUN, then the real United Nations. Becoming a diplomat would be pretty cool, especially the Secretary General of the UN.

What is the most important thing you’ve learnt in MUN?
The most important thing is to actually debate and to be able to represent a country. You need to be able to find good information and defend your country. I wasn’t able to do that before. Also you learn so many things about the different topics.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, which song would that be?

Viva la Vida by Coldplay, or maybe God only Knows by the Beachboys, but that one’s really old.

What is your favourite ice cream flavour?

I’d say maybe mango sorbet. It’s a bit healthy. But I like other’s as well like vanilla and chocolate, and melon and polka.

Where in the world would you like to travel?
My dream is to live in New York City.

What was the last book you read?

I read Persepolis in my HL English class, it’s a graphic novel. Then outside of school I read Go Set a Watchman, it’s actually the sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird.
